Station II: Allied Screening Office
The second station in the application process was occupied by the intelligence services of the three Western Allied powers: the Americans, the British and the French. In short interrogations, conducted on-site, the Allies consecutively verified the declarations offered by the refugees. In those select cases where contradictions came to the fore, or persons emerged with information about military or research installations in East Germany, interviews were continued at off-site locations.
